Marianne is the second daughter of Mrs. Dashwood and is 17 years old. She is a romantic and belives she  is deeply in love, to the point were she will die without  Mr. Willoughby. Marianne loves to have fun she dances and loves music. She is the Round character in this story; she seems strong on the outside but is easily hurt on the inside. Marianne also is very nice but gullable to.

Elinor is a pretty 19 year old girl and the oldest in the Dashwood family. Elinor is very family oriented and helps her sister get through all her hard times. Elinor is more refined then her sister and would rather draw or read then dance or listen to music. She is the protagonist in Sense and Senibility; she is always helping people and cares more about others feelings then her own. In the begining of the story she falls deeply in love with Edward  Ferris.

John Willoughby is a very deceitful and greedy man. Although he seems like a respectable and nice person when Marianne first meets him she soon finds out it was all a lie. After making Marianne fall in love with him he leaves her for a rich girl named Sophia Grey; although Jane Austen makes it sound like he loved Marianne to, but money was better. John is the antagonist in Sense and sensibility he creates problems and paine wherever he goes.

Colonel Brandon is a very kind hearted friend of John Middleton. He is a trustworthy and honorable person who tries to make others feel better. Brandon falls in love with Marianne and is very kind to her throught the story. He is the flat character in this story. He only has one characteristic and that is to be a very kind person to everybody around him. 

Edward Ferrars is the nice brother of Fanny dashwood and Robert Ferrars. Although his siblings are conceited and selfish Edward is almost the exact oposite. He is friendly and kind to everybody; when he falls in love with Elinor enen though he is ingaged he cannot marry the women he does not love. Edward is the Dynamic charater of Sense and Sensibility; in the begining he is a nice guy but he cheates on his fiance with Elinor and lies to everybody. After he relizes that he is actually in love with Elinor and not Lucy Steele he marries Elinor and becomes a better nicer person.
